Kindergarten
The first quarter, Kindergarteners focused on Listening to stories, how to take care of library books, the difference between fiction and nonfiction books, parts of a book, sections of the library, choosing a book, and finally checking out a book. Students need to pick a safe place to keep their library book. They will check out a book every two weeks. Students must return their library book in order to check out a new book. If a student loses a book, it must be paid for before they will be able to check out another book. Mrs. Barnhill will send overdue notices to let parents know which book their child has out and how much the book is, in case it has been lost.
Kindergarten will be introduced to computers first quarter. They will learn the parts of a laptop, how to manipulate a mouse, in order to navigate through websites that reinforce the Kindergarten curriculum. For some, this may be their first exposure to both the library and computer technologies. Students will learn how to successfully communicate in these ever changing venues.
